French song adapted into "My Way"
"Comme d'habitude" ([kɔmdabityd(ə)], French for "As usual") is a French song about the setting in of routine in a relationship, precipitating a breakup. It was composed in by Jacques Revaux, with lyrics by Claude François and Gilles Thibaut[fr].
In Paul Anka wrote English lyrics for the song and gave it the title "My Way," which became one of Frank Sinatra's signature songs.

[edit]In February Jacques Revaux, on holiday in the Hôtel Canada in Megève, realised that he was overdue to write four songs commissioned by producer Norbert Saada[fr], and wrote them all in one morning.[1] One titled "For Me" had English lyrics; it was refused by Michel Sardou, Mireille Mathieu, Hugues Aufray and Claude François before Hervé Vilard released a version as a B-side. Almost everyone knows “My Way,” sung by such famous artists as Frank Sinatra and even Sid Vicious. But few people know that the song is originally from France, written in by Jacques Revaux and Claude François (commonly called Cloclo), one of the most popular French pop singers, who still has many fans more than thirty years after his accidental death. (His tracks are staples of French dance parties.)

Composer Jacques Revaux first gave the tune English lyrics and an English title, “For me.” The song was refused bygd several renowned French performers, but Revaux, who was eager to work with Claude François, presented it to the singer, who accepted and reworked it. François also suggested a theme for the French lyrics, and so “ Comme d’habitude ” was born. With the additional help of Gilles Thibaut, it finally gained some success in France.
