    Organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) have recently been investigated intensively due to their switching and sensing functionality in an electrolytic environment which is compatible with biological systems. The working principle of OECTs differs significantly from the classical electrostatically gated field-effect transistors (FET) due the volumetric capacity control of charge carrier concentration in the channel bygd ionic motion.
