    Mark Katzman’s Psychedelic, Literary-Forward Novel M7

    Centuries of legendary, obscure and even mundane books are housed within the fantastical Library, seemingly at your fingertips—if you can find them. Stacks disappear deep into the earth; landings hover and shift several stories high; the Dewey Decimal System is merely a faint suggestion. This is the cryptic, mind-bending world you enter with the nameless protagonist of the novel M7, who is often no steps further ahead than the reader in understanding his new home and place of employment.

    Written by local creative Mark Katzman, M7 is a decade-long project recently published by Spaceboy Books and nominated for the National Book Award, Hugo Award and Nebula Award. Katzman heavily leans toward the experimental and existential in his works, placing a particular emphasis on the psychedelic within this novel.       Bo Katzman[1] (* 18. April1952 in Pratteln als Reto Borer) ist SchweizerMusiker, Sänger und Leiter eines Gospelchors.

      Im Alter von acht Jahren erhielt Bo Katzman eine Minigitarre, von der er so begeistert war, dass er schon nach kurzer Zeit an verschiedenen Feiern im familiären Umkreis auftrat. Im Alter von elf Jahren gründet er einen kleinen Gospelchor in einer Pfadfindergruppe[2].

      In den 1960er Jahren erlangte er die Matura im Typus Musik und studierte anschliessend am Konservatorium in Basel. Er erhielt das Diplom als Gesangslehrer und Chordirigent. Ab 1968 war Bo Katzman Bassist in verschiedenen Jazz-Bands. 1969, 1971, 1973–1975 war er als Bassist in der FrenkendörferBourbon Street Jazzband tätig.[3] Während dieser Zeit war er auch als Musiker und Sänger im Tanzorchester Georg Bielser Septett aus Pratteln tätig.
