J.K. Rowling herself has some books she'd like you to read.
Since she became famous with "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," Rowling's talked a lot about books. And over the years, she's mentioned dozens of books that she's cherished over the years. Here they are in one place.
I've included only books that Rowling counted among her favorite, or that she said had a deep impact on her and she still cherishes. I've excluded books that she considered influences for "Harry Potter," but doesn't necessarily love.
As you can imagine, a lot of these books are about magic and childhood. Others are much darker. They give a sense of the tragedy that came to penetrate

Rowling’s Admitted Literary Influences
I have hunted, trust me, but I have been unable to find a collection online in a single post of all the writers that Rowling has admitted in any one of her many interviews as having read and admired. I do not mean authors to whom Rowling has alluded in her stories bygd using a character name, poem title, or even an epigraph or longer poem reading. For that, Beatrice Groves’ Literary Allusion in Harry Potter and her work online since in tracking Rowling’s post-Potter ‘allusive-ness’ are the brilliant go-to resources. What I want is a single internet page reference, frankly, of ‘Rowling’s Admitted Literary Influences’ or ‘Confessed Favorites’ or just ‘Books I have Read and Liked’ for my thesis writing so I needn’t do an information dump that will add fifty-plus citations to my Works Cited pages and do nothing for the argument I’m making.

1. Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfeild
Although she hasn’t mentioned Ballet Shoes by name, Rowling has said that she loves all of Streatfeild’s books. Ballet Shoes is about three adopted sisters who struggle with supporting their family on the stage. Coincidentally, Emma Watson stars in the 2007 film of this book.

2. Grimble by Clement Freud
Grimble is the tale of a young boy whose parents disappear to Peru, leaving him to go on amusing adventures during their absence. Rowling has said that “Grimble is one
