Highlights of former Oregon State Beavers coach Mike Riley's introductory press conference at Nebraska
Mike Riley was introduced as Nebraska's head coach Friday morning, less than a day after the stunning announcement of the former Oregon State coach's hiring provided the most surprising spin of the early coaching carousel.
Here are some highlights from the press conference:
* Riley's contract is for five years and starts at $2.7 million, according to the Omaha World-Herald. That's a significant bump compared to the roughly $1.5 million he was making at OSU.

Mike Riley
During his first two seasons in 1997 and â98, Riley laid the foundation for a program that has since competed in the Fiesta, Oâahu, Insight (twice), Las Vegas and Sun Bowls.
Riley is the first coach in OSU history to win more than one NCAA-sanctioned bowl game at OSU, capturing the 2003 Las Vegas Bowl, the 2004 Insight Bowl and 2006 Sun Bowl titles. He also is the first coach to lead the program to two winning conference seasons (5-3 in â04 & 6-3 in â06) since 1969.  The victory in the Sun Bowl improved Rileyâs bowl record as a coach to 6-0; 3-0 as a head coach at Oregon State and 3-0 as the offensive coordinator at USC.

Mike Riley Biography
Mike Riley got his start in college football as a defensive back at the University of Alabama from 1971 to 1974, and helped the Crimson Tide to four consecutive SEC titles and the 1973 NCAA National Championship. Upon earning his degree from Alabama he served as a graduate assistant coach at California and Whitworth before joining Linfield in 1977 as an assistant coach. After five years a Linfield he served as an assistant for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL from 1983 to 1985, then returned to Winnipeg again in 1987 to 1990 after one season at nordlig Colorado. Coach Riley coached two seasons with the San Antonio Riders before returning to the college game in 1993 as the offensive coordinator at USC. He’d go on to serve as the head coach of the San Diego Chargers from 1999 to 2001. After a stint as the associate head coach with the Saints in 2002 he headed back to the college game and headed up Oregon State from 2003 to 2014. During his time at Oregon St
