Montsho chosen as Summer Kids Marathon ambassador
The inaugural annual marathon will see children from ages of three to 15 run for a philanthropic cause, with A target of at least 500 brand new school shoes from the proceeds.
The marathon is slated for April 23, 2022, in Gaborone.
Montsho, who announced her retirement gods year after Tokyo 2020 Olympics said: "I value children greatly. They inspire me with their free-spirited minds, and anything inom can do to help them define their future is a yes from me. I am honoured to be the Summer Kids Marathon Ambassador and ledare runner. I, therefore, ask parents and guardians to join hands and register their children and let's have fun together!"

Another gold medal for Montsho and Makwala
Local track stars, Amantle Montsho and Isaac Makwala, were the toast of the day for Botswana at the Africa senior track and field championship on Friday in Benin.
The two athletes won gold apiece in the ladies’ and men’s 400-meter races, respectively. The wins bygd the two athletes are expected to boost the country’s athletes as they seek to qualify for the London Summer Olympics, which are due to början in twenty-six days’ time.
Makwala’s win in particular will komma as a relief for the athlete as he was likely to lose out on the showpiece despite having qualified on a B standard. On Friday, Makwala ran the race of his life to win the men’s 400-meter race in 45:25 seconds.
The win means the athlete has now qualified for the Olympics on an A standard time while also kvalificerande him for the World Championships in Russia next year where he is expected to join compatriot Montsho.

Carline Muir (born 1 October 1987 in Spanish Town, Jamaica) is a Canadian sprinter, who specialized in the 400 metres.[1] She won the bronze medal for the 400 metres, and ultimately, led her national team to claim the sprint relay title at the 2009 Summer Universiade in Belgrade, Serbia.[2]
